Friday Afternoon Weather Update – 4:02 PM

Our local weather has been hot again today, with many neighborhoods well into the upper 90s. Factor in the moisture, and heat index values are approaching 105. A few thunderstorms are trying to develop in west Alabama, but storms are few and far in between. Once the sun sets this evening, any leftover storms will dissipate and we’ll return to a dry setup tonight. Humidity levels will remain high, so conditions will remain uncomfortable through the night. Expect lows to reach the lower 70s by daybreak.

A summer ridge is building in just in time for the weekend, and we can expect a dry and very hot weather setup. Highs will top out near 98 over the weekend, with heat index values over 105. If you have outdoor plans for father’s day, keep well hydrated. Summer officially begins on Monday, and we can expect summer-like weather. Highs continue in the upper 90s through the week. Lows at night will reach the lower 70s.

Be sure to join me today at 5, 6, and 10 PM for more home team weather on WVUA-TV. Have a great day!
