Thursday Afternoon Weather Update-3:55 PM

I hope you are having a great Thursday! Our weather has been rather hot today, with temperatures in the 90s. Heat index values today have been flirting with 100 degrees. This hot weather will continue for the next 7 days. Summer is a little early… Highs will top out in the lower 90s on Friday, but we’re expecting upper 90s on Saturday and Sunday. The summer ridge builds in a bit over the weekend, so we’ll return to a mostly sunny sky. A stray storm is possible, but we aren’t expecting anything heavy.

Starting off next week, we’ll see a mixture of clouds and sunshine. Highs top out in the lower 90s each day. A few afternoon storms are possible. Humidity will continue to make it feel even hotter through next week. Heat index values will approach 105 over the weekend and 100 for the rest of the week. Lows at night continue in the lower 70s.

It is the Atlantic Hurricane Season, and we are looking good for now. Sea surface temperatures are in the middle 80s in the northern Gulf of Mexico. This is prime warmth for hurricanes, so we will keep a close eye on things as they develop.
