Saturday Afternoon Weather Update – 2:09 PM

A good Saturday to you! A few storms this afternoon will be shortly lived as they track across the state. If you get underneath a storm this afternoon, expect lots of lightning, gusty winds and some heavy rain. Lots of hot weather is ahead of us, with temperatures approaching the lower 90s each day over the next 7 days. There is some relief in the humidity early next week, but that will be short lived.

Temperatures this afternoon will continue in the lower to middle 90s. Heat index values are approaching the upper 90s. If you are working outdoors, be sure to keep well hydrated and drink plenty of water. A cold front moves through the state tomorrow afternoon, and we can expect a few storms along the front. A few storms could grow strong, but we do not expect anything to get out of hand. The cold front may not drop our temperatures, but you will notice a drop in humidity. This will last through Monday and Tuesday. Mostly sunny skies can be expected both days, with highs in the lower 90s. Lows will cool off a few degrees, but only into the middle 60s.

A few afternoon storms return into the forecast Tuesday afternoon through next weekend. Only a stray storm or two are expected. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds Tuesday through Saturday. Highs continue between 92 and 94 degrees. On Thursday and Friday, heat index values will approach the upper 90s. Be sure to join me tonight at 10 pm for more on your forecast on WVUA-TV. Have a great Saturday!
