Forecast Discussion 4/14 4:00 PM

Good afternoon! On this date last year the official high temperature in Tuscaloosa was 61 degrees. Today it was an entirely different story, with temperatures in the middle 80s under a bright-sunny sky. You can expect another delightful evening, with a clear sky and pleasant temperatures. Lows tonight will be in the 50s.

A high pressure ridge remains anchored over the state and this feature is centered near Knoxville, TN. On the western side of the ridge a strong on shore flow out of the Gulf of Mexico has sparked thunderstorm activity over southern Mississippi and Louisiana. We will remain dry through tomorrow, with a mostly sunny sky. We will experience a nice warm-up, with afternoon highs in the middle 80s. Look for almost identical conditions on Friday, with highs in the middle 80s.

A cold front will move in on Saturday and the long range data is starting to agree this front will push through our area. Therefore, I’m forecasting increasing clouds, with a passing shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. By Sunday a drier flow will take over and some cooler air will drop in. Highs will be in the 70s on Sunday and Monday, with more bright weather. High pressure will strengthen to our east early next week and this should keep us dry through Wednesday. Be sure to join us tonight for more weather details!
