Forecast Discussion 3/15 4:03 PM

The new week has started off on a cloudy note and it remains quite chilly thanks in part to a gusty north wind. We will have a light breeze tonight, with a cloudy sky and lows in the 40s. The large storm system that brought the rough weather to our state last week is still impacting the New England states. A tight pressure gradient on the backside of this low is keeping the weather conditions rather cold and breezy across Alabama. Tomorrow is going to be another cloudy day, with below average daytime temperatures.

An upper level disturbance is currently bringing some precipitation to portions of western Texas. This feature will dig towards the Gulf of Mexico over the next 24 hours. This system will bring us more clouds and a chance of rain late tomorrow night. In addition, a few showers will be possible on Wednesday and Thursday. This system won’t be a heavy rainmaker but it will basically keep our area rather chilly and damp. We should finally get some sunshine in the mix on Friday as the clouds break during the morning hours. Highs on Friday will near 70 degrees, with pleasant afternoon conditions.

Spring will officially arrive this weekend and we will be dealing with another storm as the season rolls in. Saturday will be a mostly cloudy and windy day, with a chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday night. It is a bit too early to tell if this system will bring severe weather; however, at this time I would be prepared for the possibility of thunderstorms. A cold front will sweep across early on Sunday, with improving weather by Monday of next week. Be sure to join us tonight first at four, and at five, six, and ten for more details.
