Rain has moved into West Alabama today, and it will be with us through much of the overnight hours into early Thursday. Temperatures will hold steady int he middle 40s.

We’ll have a milder day Thursday with a high of 58 degrees. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a few showers possible during the day. For New Year’s Eve night, rain showers are a little more likely, and some of them could mix with snow showers. Lows will be in the middle 30s.

Behind that rain Thursday night into early Friday morning, cold air spills into the area. Skies will clear on New Year’s day and temperatures will only top out in the upper 40s! Friday night, lows dip to the middle 20s.

The first weekend of the new year will be cold, with mostly sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday. Highs through the weekend will be in the middle to upper 40s. Overnight lows will be in the middle 20s.

Sunday night, an upper level system zips through the area. Moisture will be limited, but I can’t rule out a few flurries from it as it passes by.  Behind this system, temperature will fall even lower.

Highs for the first half of next week will be in the 30s! Over night lows will be in the lower 20s at the very start of the week, but then in the teens Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

I’ll have more on the forecast on WVUA News First at 4:00 and the News at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 tonight.
