Sunday Afternoon Weather Discussion – 2:40 PM

Our Sunday started off rather cold, but with lots of sunshine, temperatures made a nice recovery this afternoon; in-fact, many of us are in the lower 70s as of 2 PM observations. Temperatures will cool off in a hurry tonight, with lows in the lower 40s. This will be our last cold night in a while. The rest of the week will include a warm-up, with highs back in the lower to middle 70s.

The weather will quickly change on Monday, with clouds increasing. We’ll start off the day sunny, but after the noon-time hour, we’ll have a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Showers and thunderstorms move in on Tuesday. The dynamics are very impressive, but we’ll have limited moisture. If we can get sufficient moisture into central Alabama, then we will have some severe weather issues. Be sure to keep an eye to the weather on Tuesday incase some of the storms get out of hand. The main threat will be in the form of damaging winds. With strong winds just off the surface, it won’t be hard for that to work down to the surface. Temperatures will remain in the lower 70s. Wednesday will be an in-between day, with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will get rather warm, as highs reach the upper 70s.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be tough days to forecast. Guidance has been all over the board with our next cold front. It now appears that a ridge in the southeast will keep the front from making it as far south as originally though. This will keep rain in the forecast for several days; late on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Once the front moves through on Saturday, we’ll have some drier weather move in just in time for Halloween night. Be sure to join me tonight at 10 PM for the latest on your forecast on WVUA-TV.
