Forecast Discussion Update 9/24 3:56 PM

Many areas that dealt with the very heavy rain recently have been able to catch a break over the past 24 hours. The Bermuda high to our east has put a cap on the widespread rain development for the time being. I do expect the rain chances to go up however, as a low pressure system and associated cold front move our way. For tonight, the chance for a passing storm or shower will continue, with lows near 70. Tomorrow we will have increasing clouds, with a good chance for some rain during the evening. So here we go again with another High School Football Friday, with rain threatening the area.

On Saturday a line of rain and thunderstorms will push into the area. Some of the thunderstorms may grow severe and the greatest threat will be in areas to our north. During the day the peak rain chance appears to be in the afternoon. The last time an Alabama game was delayed because of the weather was for the Arkansas game. Hopefully, we won’t face a delay this year. We will begin clearing out Saturday night, with mostly sunny weather returning on Sunday. A secondary surge of cooler and drier air will arrive on Monday. We will have lots of sunshine to start off next week, with pleasant daytime temperatures and cooler night. Look for the dry conditions to prevail through next Thursday.

IMG_1234I want to thank my little friends out at Arcadia Elementary School for allowing me to visit yesterday. I spoke to the Kindergarten class. Have a great evening!
