Saturday Morning Weather Update – 10:40 AM

Our Labor Day weekend has started off wet, with showers and storms in the area this morning. Most of the rain is moving out, but more storms are possible later today. With mostly cloudy skies and showers around here, temperatures will remain in the lower 80s for highs. An upper-air disturbance is responsible for bringing the rain into our area. This disturbance will hang around through Tuesday, so don’t expect much sun through Tuesday. Rainfall chances will remain high, with a 50 to 60% chance of storms through Monday. If you have plans for Labor Day, take the rain gear with you. Some places may pick up an inch of rain between now and Monday.

Alabama football begins tonight in Atlanta, Georgia. The good news is that it will be dry for the game. Well, that’s due to a roof over the stadium. If you are traveling back tonight or tomorrow, be sure to take it extra easy on the roadways. There will be periods of showers and storms tonight and tomorrow.

Our upper-air disturbance will be moving out on Wednesday and Thursday, so that will take the good rain chances with it. With a moist airmass left behind, we’ll still see a few afternoon storms in the forecast through next weekend.
