Rain has been falling in most of West Alabama since mid-morning. There is plenty more of it back to the west southwest of us, and it’s all heading in this direction.  That means a soggy weekend for us.  For the rest of today, tonight and tomorrow, the rainfall looks to be pretty constant.   Saturday, there could be a couple rumbles of thunder mixed in, especially south.

Saturday night, the rainfall will become less expansive, but there will be a threat for showers even into Monday.

After all is said and done with this weather event, we will see rain totals between 1 and 3 inches across much of the area.  Fortunately, this won’t come in one big downpour, so flash flooding and urban flooding shouldn’t be a problem.

However, all of this water will run into our area’s lakes, rivers and streams, so we will have to watch for high water levels starting Sunday and lasting into the middle of the coming week.

If you’re hoping to avoid this nasty weather with a trip to the Gulf Shore of Alabama, I’m sorry to say the forecast isn’t much better… tomorrow through Tuesday, good chances for rain and a few thunderstorms.

Back here in West Alabama, the rain finally moves out of the area later in the day Monday.  We’ll have a couple of dry days next week, Tuesday and Wednesday, before there’s another shot of showers on Thursday.

I hope you stay dry this weekend and join me this afternoon for WVUA News First at 4:00, and WVUA News at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 tonight.
