Sunday Afternoon Weather Discussion; Posted at 5:35 p.m.

A good Sunday to you! Despite lots of sun today, it was cold; we struggled to reach 50 degrees. As an area of high pressure move in tonight, we’ll quickly cool off into the middle 20s for lows. Widespread frost can be expected in the morning, but we’ll warm up very nicely during the afternoon hours. We’ll reach the middle and upper 50s tomorrow, which will begin the warming trend. High pressure will move to our east, which will set us up underneath a south flow on Tuesday; most of us will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s for highs. Clouds will gradually increase on Wednesday, as highs make into the middle 60s. Conditions will begin to change again on Thursday, with an advancing storm system.

Most of us will be in the lower 70s on Thursday, with mostly cloudy skies. We’ll have a breezy south wind developing and clouds on an increase through out the day. A developing storm-system will move into our area on Friday, which will spread some rain and thunderstorms in our area. I don’t see anything severe at this point with Friday’s system, but we’ll be closely watching the setup. The models really disagree on the exact timing of the front at this point, so I’ve left the rain in the forecast for Saturday. Some models suggest the rain will be through our area on Saturday and others show the rain lagging behind for the morning hours. Temperatures will remain warm through Saturday, but slightly cooler weather will roll into town on Sunday, with highs in the lower 60s.

Be sure to join us tonight at 10 p.m. for the latest on your forecast on WVUA-TV. Have a great Sunday!
