Tuesday Afternoon Discussion 3:38 PM

The weather today has cooperated nicely with all of the voters heading out to the polls. We will continue to have great weather conditions through tonight, with a mostly clear sky overhead. Temperatures by 7:00 p.m. will be in the low to middle 60s. Our temperatures overnight will bottom out near 47 degrees. Tomorrow the sun will return and we will have another big warm-up into the upper 70s. On Thursday we may set a new record high as temperatures approach 80 degrees. The current record high for Tuscaloosa on November 6th is 81 degrees, which was set back in 2005.

Wes Look for increasing clouds all across West Alabama Thursday night as a cold front approaches. The moist flow ahead of the front may bring us a shower late Thursday night. The best chance of rain will arrive early Friday and there may be a thunderstorm in the vicinity. Unfortunately, I don’t see this being the major rain event that we so desperately need. However, long range data is starting to show promise.

Wes Our weekend will be very dry and it is going to feel cooler. Highs will only reach the 60s, with lows in the 40s. A west to east zonal flow in the upper air pattern will materialize next week. This will promote a more active pattern with a couple of system rolling in next week. The first disturbance looks to arrive on Monday and this will bring us a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. We will also have a chance for a shower or storm on Tuesday. This more progressive pattern should guide another storm system into our area by the end of next week.
