Friday Afternoon Update

Radar LoopGood afternoon, hope you’re having a nice day. We’ve seen mostly cloudy skies through much of the day. Temperatures have been a little cooler because of that, but with the humidity outside, it still feels rather sticky.

There have been some rain showers in the area, especially south of Tuscaloosa through the day. An upper level low is spinning over us in the atmosphere. Our Rain Vision estimates from less than a tenth of an inch of rain in parts of Greene and Hale Counties, to as much as one and a half inches of rain in far southwestern Marengo County today.

Expect more of the same type of weather tomorrow, some hit or miss showers and storms along with warm and muggy conditions. The chance for rain is only about 20%, with it most likely developing in the heat of the afternoon. Highs Saturday will approach 90 degrees in west Alabama as we’ll see more sun than clouds.

For the rest of your Memorial Day weekend, Sunday and Monday look like they’ll be dry with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 both days. The rain chances have been taken out of our forecast for those two days.

Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms return to the area Tuesday of next week and last at least through Friday.

I’ll have more on the forecast today at 4, 5, 6 and 10 p.m.
