Wednesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion Update

Good Afternoon! We’ve had some noticeable changes out there today as a surge of moisture has lifted into Alabama. Clouds have moved in and it has become quite muggy. All eyes are on low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico, which is helping to enhance the moist flow. Another feature is high pressure located to our northeast, which is helping to drive the clouds in our direction. There sure appears to be a nice low level circulation with low pressure over the central gulf, but there is a lack of heavy thunderstorms around the center. We may see some quick development overnight; otherwise, this will help to enhance the moist flow we have in place over Alabama.

Tonight we will have a mostly cloudy sky, with the chance for a shower during the evening hours. With the clouds and muggy conditions, lows will be in the upper 60s tonight. The stronger east to southeast flow will prevail tomorrow and this will spread more clouds and showers in our direction. In fact, with additional sunshine on Friday, we could have a thunderstorm develop. Highs will be in the upper 80s, with lows in the upper 60s.

We do have a chance of rain in the forecast through Saturday and unless we see a tropical system track in our direction, the rain over the next several days will be rather hit or miss. In the long range, look for a cold front to enter the picture around next Wednesday and this will have the potential to squeeze out a shower or two. I will have more details plus the latest from the tropics coming up at five, six, and ten!
