Saturday Afternoon Weather Discussion

Some folks received heavy rainfall amounts over the past couple of days. This is all thanks to a weakness in the upper-air ridge of high-pressure that has kept us hot and dry over the past couple of weeks. As the ridge continues to weaken, you can expect another good chance of rain tomorrow, where there is a 40% chance.

Our rain chances will go down Monday to 20%; in response to less cloud cover and lower rain chances, our temperatures will climb to 99 degrees. This pattern will continue until Wednesday, when a cold front is expected to slip into our area. The front will help increase our rain chances to 40% on Thursday and Friday. With more clouds and showers in place, you can expect highs to be in the lower 90s both days.

The tropics this afternoon are relatively quiet. The only action to speak of is some disturbed weather in the southwestern Gulf. The National Hurricane Center doesn’t expect this to develop because of its proximity to Mexico. If anything does organize, we will be sure to let you know about it.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 10 for the latest in your weather forecast.

Have a great weekend.
