Wednesday Forecast Discussion Update

You can expect a summer-like forecast for the next several days, as each day we will be advertising the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. First off, you can expect more pleasant conditions tonight. There is rain just across the state line in Mississippi, but this activity is having a tough time reaching West Alabama. A passing shower will be possible across the extreme northwest corner of the viewing area, in places like Hamilton and Sulligent. An upper level ridge has kept us dry and temperatures have really warmed up. We reached 88-degrees yesterday and today temperatures have stayed in the low 80s.

Tomorrow the temperatures will be in the lower 80s, with clouds building throughout the day. There will be a chance for a passing shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon, as high pressure weakens over the state. The chance for a passing shower or thunderstorm will continue tomorrow, with development in the afternoon. Look for the activity to continue into the early evening hours and gradually dissipate. Even though we will have a chance of rain, this will not be the type of rain that could end our drought woes.

The weekend weather setup will be slightly drier. You can expect partly cloudy skies for both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the lower 80s. There could be a stray shower or thunderstorm during the afternoon.
