Tropical Storm Karen Update 620 AM
October 5, 2013 Leave a comment
Water vapor imagery this morning shows a recent burst of convection near the center of Karen, but otherwise, it continues to battle vertical wind shear as well as lots of dry air on the west side of the circulation. Karen is continuing to move towards the north-northwest. That north then northeast turn is expected over the next 24 hours as a mid-level trough approaches from the west.
Latest stats on Karen from the NHC:
Max sustained winds: 40 mph
Minimum central pressure: 1007 mb
Location: 195 miles SW of the Mouth of the Mississippi River
Movement: NNW @ 8 mph
I’ll have another update a little later this morning!
