Nice Sunday… Some Rain Ahead… Saturday Evening Forecast Update – 9:20pm

Sevenday_640

Good Saturday Evening! I hope you’ve had a great Groundhog Day. Conditions are becoming foggy in a hurry tonight, so use caution if driving late tonight or early on Sunday. The fog should evaporate just after sunrise tomorrow morning. All of west and central Alabama is under a dense fog advisory tonight. As for temperatures, most spots have reached the upper 30s across west and central Alabama. Since dewpoints are also in the 30s, don’t expect temperatures to drop much more tonight.

Many spots picked up a quick shot of rain this afternoon. There was even some snow across extreme north Alabama. Temperatures in our part of the state were far too warm for winter weather around here, but it was fun to see pictures of a little snow from friends in the Tennessee Valley. The band of showers didn’t amount to much, with many spots picking up about 1/10th of an inch. While it was enough rain to wet the roads for many, it wasn’t near enough to cause issues. The rain is long gone by this hour across areas north of HWY 80, but a few showers were just ending south of HWY 80 as of 9pm. We’ll all go dry and clear and foggy tonight.

The forecast is looking pretty nice for Sunday. We’ll notice a breeze out of the northwest at 5 to 10mph, but a sunny sky and temperatures reaching the lower 60s should feel pretty nice. Sunday night will get chilly in a hurry, with a low in the lower 30s. A light freeze is expected. Clouds will increase on Monday, with showers arriving Monday night. It now looks like we’ll catch a quick soaking rain Monday night and early Tuesday, before dry weather settles in after lunch on Tuesday. Highs will top out in the 50s both Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday is looking like a nice and comfortable day, as highs reach the lower 60s. Skies will become sunny on Wednesday. Look for skies to become partly sunny on Thursday and Friday. A passing shower is possible, but most of us will stay dry until a storm system brings a more organized risk of rain on Saturday.
