Rain Through Wednesday… Mild Weather Continues… Tuesday Eve Forecast Discussion – 6 pm
December 4, 2012 2 Comments
Good Tuesday evening! We’re dealing with a rainy night across west and central Alabama, as a slow moving cold front moves into a moisture rich environment across the south. Look for a good chance of showers and a few thunderstorms through tonight and much of Wednesday. Showers will gradually decrease on Wednesday. Storm rain totals will approach 0.50″ in most spots.
The cold front is expected to stall across I-20 thanks to weak upper air support. Since the front isn’t expected to sweep through our state, the warm air will continue through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Look for highs to reach the 70s on Thursday through next Monday. This is very unusual for December to say the least, but temperatures are below record highs.
Our weather will go pretty quiet and mild through the weekend, but a stray shower or two can’t be ruled out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most spots will stay dry through Sunday, but things are expected to change on Monday. A deep upper air trough will dig southeast and impact Alabama with a surface low and cold front. The cold front will arrive sometime on Monday or on Tuesday. Model data is still iffy on the arrival time, but it sure looks like a wet start to the week. Models were showing a severe weather look yesterday, but models have slacked off a bit on that look. We’ll be watching it close incase anything changes.
