Nice Weather, Then Much Cooler! Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Update 5pm

Good Tuesday afternoon! It’s turned out to be another wonderful day, with ample sunshine and mild temperatures. After a cool start to the day, we made it back into the 80s this afternoon. If you have plans out doors this evening or tonight, temperatures will gradually drop. Look for middle to upper 60s at 7pm under a clear sky. Upper 50s are likely by 10pm tonight. Overnight temperatures will then drop into the lower 50s before daybreak tomorrow morning.
This week continues to be under the influence of slight ridging. This will allow for temperatures to become warm during the day, as highs reach the lower 80s through Friday. We’ll be watching with interest a deep upper air trough developing west of Alabama on Friday. The trough will move east and will send a cold front into Alabama early Saturday morning. Ahead of the front, there could be a shower or two out there across west and central Alabama. The chance of rain is only at 10% on Friday and early Saturday. Since the risk of rain is low, I think most early weekend activities will go without any rainy issues. As the trough moves into the eastern US, cold air will quickly take over on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will reach the lower to middle 60s on Saturday and Sunday, with a cold north wind. Thanks to the sharp pressure gradient between tropical system Sandy to the east and a strong surface high to the west.
Friday night: Big events are happening on the University of Alabama Campus due to Homecoming. If you are going to the Pep-Rally Friday night, look for temperatures in the 60s between 7pm and 10pm. Upper 50s will become likely after 10pm.
Saturday: Look for a partly cloudy sky, with temperatures reaching the middle 60s during the early afternoon. Winds will gust to 30mph out of the north on Saturday, with temperatures falling into the 50s around sunset and upper 40s by 10pm. It will be a cold game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff for the Alabama vs MSU game is at 7:30pm. While the game looks dry at this point, temperatures will be cold.
Temperatures will remain chilly on Sunday and Monday, with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the middle 30s. A light frost is possible by Monday morning…
