Chilly Tonight, Nice Through The Weekend… Wednesday Afternoon Forecast Update – 4:40pm
October 10, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Wednesday afternoon! After a chilly start to the day, temperatures warmed nicely. Most spots reached the upper 70s to lower 80s. After some morning clouds, afternoon sun did make for a quick warmup around lunch today. A cold front is moving through our area this afternoon, and we can expect much cooler behind the front tonight. While we will notice a quick pop of cooler air, it will be a very progressive trough. Most of the cool air will stay north of us on Thursday. Look for lows in the middle 40s tonight. Highs will return into the middle 80s on Thursday, under a mostly sunny sky.
As the trough quickly moves east, look for highs to reach the lower 80s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A ridge will build into the area, which will warm temperatures above the 80 degree mark. A south flow will develop on Friday and Saturday. The south wind will transport moisture northward into Alabama over the weekend. This means lows will modify and humidity will increase over the weekend. Look for lows to modify into the lower 60s by Saturday night.
A weak cold front is expected to reach central and west Alabama on Monday. This will bring a batch of showers into the area. Don’t expect heavy rain or an all day rain event with the front, but some showers are possible. As the main portion of the trough remains north of Alabama, temperatures won’t drop that much behind the cold front on Tuesday or Wednesday. Skies will become mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If you’re heading to the Moundville Native American Festival today through Saturday, look for nice weather for the event. Mild temperatures can be expected during the day, with a mostly sunny sky. There is no risk of rain in Moundville through Saturday.
The 41st Annual Shrimp Festival is happening in Gulf Shores on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event is looking great, with highs in the low to middle 80s. At this point, I don’t see any organized risk of rain there through the weekend.
