Cooler Weather Ahead – Friday 4:30 PM Update
October 5, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Friday afternoon to you! It’s been a rather mild day, with highs in the lower to middle 80s across the state. With ample sunshine, it’s hard to keep temperatures from making a big increase during the peak heating hours. We can expect temperatures to gradually cool off after sunset, with a temperature near or just below 70 at 7pm and in the middle 60s around 10pm. If you’re heading out to the local high school football games tonight, there are no issues with rain in the forecast. Temperatures will become pleasant during game-time. Look for a clear sky to remain in the forecast tonight.
A few clouds will develop Saturday morning, with a gradual increase in clouds through the day. A few showers or an isolated thunderstorm is possible during the afternoon hours on Saturday and on Sunday. Most spots will remain dry both days, but a stray shower is possible. Skies will remain mostly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday. If we don’t get much in the way of sunshine on Sunday, we may stay in the upper 50s to around 60 for highs. As a surface high slips in from the northwest Sunday night, lows will fall into the 39 to 44 degree range across all of west and central Alabama. Skies will gradually become clear.
If you’re heading to the Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, I would take a poncho incase a quick shower pops up in the area. The risk of rain is pretty low. Highs will reach the upper 70s on Saturday, but lower 60s for highs on Sunday.
A gradual warming trend is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the 70s under a sunny sky.
