Nice Weather Ahead! Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – 4pm

Good Tuesday afternoon to you! How about a cool, fall day… Temperatures stayed in the 60s for much of central Alabama, but lower 70s are much more common across the western side of the state. After clouds and some mist this morning, afternoon sun is breaking out from west to east. While much of central Alabama is still in the clouds, expect clearing there soon. As skies clear out tonight, many spots will deal with really chilly weather; look for lows to reach the upper 40s to lower 50s. There could be a little fog as well, so use caution if driving tonight or early tomorrow.

As for this evening, look for decreasing clouds. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s after 7pm and middle 50s after 10pm. Skies will become mostly clear from west to east through the evening. Our forecast will remain mostly sunny through our Wednesday plans. Temperatures will rapidly warm into the lower 80s across our area tomorrow, Thursday and Friday. Humidity will remain low, so expect the comfort factor to remain nice through Friday.

A big-time trough will take shape across the heartland of the US on Friday and Saturday. Look for an increase in clouds ahead of the trough and cold front. There’s a risk of a passing shower on Saturday, but most spots won’t get a drop. Saturday will feature mild conditions with a high near 80. The cold front will pass through the state Saturday evening or Saturday night. Look for a brisk north wind to take over on Sunday. Most spots will have a tough time reaching 65 on Sunday, with a howling northwest wind. As a surface high takes over Sunday night, we’ll catch one of the coolest nights so far this season. Most spots will fall into the lower to middle 40s Sunday night and Monday night. Highs will stay in the upper 60s on Monday. The good news is that skies will become sunny on Sunday and remain sunny through Monday.

If you’re heading to the Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for race weekend, look for an increase in clouds on Saturday, with the risk of a passing shower. The chance of rain is low, but if a shower moves over the area, it won’t last long at all. We’ll go dry and much cooler on Sunday, with a high near 65. Skies will become sunny on Sunday.
