Tornado Watch East Alabama Until 8pm Monday – 2pm Update
October 1, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Monday afternoon to you! The Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado watch for east Alabama until 8pm this Monday evening. The watch includes all counties to the east of I-65. There is no threat of severe weather and or tornadoes in western Alabama for the rest of the day. The threat is quickly shifting out of east Alabama; in-fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if the watch is dropped early.
The SPC is concerned that some cells my energize as the cold front moves into Georgia this afternoon. The best chance of an isolated tornado will occur in Georgia, but we’ll keep an eye on things for our friends on the east side of the state through this evening. Stay alert.
Meanwhile, areas west of I-65 are in much more stable air at this hour. As the front moves eastward through the state, expect temperatures to quickly fall into the 60s this evening. With a mostly cloudy sky through tonight and a few showers, look for temperatures to hold in the low 60s or upper 50s for lows.
