Nice Weather Continues… Friday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – 5pm Update
September 21, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Friday afternoon to you! How about another nice weather day, with bright sunny skies and mild temperatures. For the last day or summer, it sure feels like summer has come and gone already. Temperatures this afternoon have reached the lower to middle 80s across the state. Moisture levels have increased a tad today due to a south wind. You may notice a very slight increase in humidity this evening, but conditions will remain comfortable.
The local high school football games will go without problems today, as skies remain clear during game-time. We can expect temperatures to fall into the lower 70s at the 7pm kickoff and middle 60s at 10pm. There is no risk of rain today or tonight. Look for lows to fall into the upper 50s for lows tonight.
A cold front will move through the state on Saturday, so we can expect a change in temperatures Saturday night and on Sunday. Highs will remain warm on Saturday, with highs in the middle to upper 80s. The cold front will provide enough lift to bring some scattered clouds into our area, but I expect moisture to remain too limited to get rain. As the cold front arrives, cooler air will arrive. Look for temperatures to fall into the middle 50s Saturday night with a clear sky. Fall officially begins Saturday morning at 9:49am. Skies will remain sunny on Sunday and Monday, with afternoon highs in the upper 70s both days.
Tuesday and Wednesday will feature a gradual warming trend, with highs in the lower 80s. Skies will also remain sunny to mostly sunny through most of next week. Lows will gradually warm into the upper 50s by Tuesday night.
Alabama takes on Florida Atlantic on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. We can expect a nice gameday, with a partly cloudy sky. At this point, I don’t see any signs of rain for the game. Kickoff is at 4pm, so if your seat is on the east side of the stadium, it will be very mild during the game. If your seat is on the west side of the stadium, you’ll be sitting in the cool shade for the game. Temperatures will start in the lower 80s at kickoff and fall into the middle 70s by the end of the game.
Auburn takes on LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn on Saturday. Kickoff is at 6pm; look for a mostly sunny sky with temperatures in the upper 70s at kickoff. There is no risk of rain during that game.
