Nice Weather Continues! Wednesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – 6pm

Good Wednesday afternoon! We are looking great in terms of fall-like weather today. Temperatures have leveled off in the middle to upper 70s across much of the central and west Alabama area. Most spots started off in the upper 40s to lower 50s this morning. With ample sunshine and dry air, temperatures had no problem warming into the 70s today. A gradual warming trend will continue through the 1st half of the weekend, with most spots returning into the 80s by tomorrow and middle 80s on Friday and Saturday.
The deep upper air trough responsible for the cooler air will gradually pull to the northeast of Alabama. While a modifying trend will take over during the day, we can expect temperatures to remain cool at night through the weekend and early next week. Low dewpoints will keep temperatures rather cool at night, as air temperatures try to reach the dewpoints each night. A surface high will also maximize radiational cooling, with lows falling into the upper 40s tonight and low to mid 50s for the rest of the week and through the weekend.
A weak cold front will arrive on Saturday. We can expect a few extra clouds during the day on Saturday, but I don’t expect rain at this point. Since the air is expected to remain so dry, there will be not fuel for showers or storms. A shot of cooler air will move in on Sunday and Monday, with highs in the upper 70s. Lows could reach the upper 40s again by Sunday night.
The forecast is looking good for the Alabama vs Florida Atlantic game on Saturday. Temperatures will range in the lower 80s at the 4pm kickoff, falling into the low 70s to end the game. Skies will remain partly cloudy through the game, with no risk of rain. Overall, the gameday forecast is looking good! By the way, Fall begins officially on Saturday.
LSU takes on Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Look for a mostly clear sky at the 6pm kickoff, with temperatures starting off in the mid 70s, falling into the upper 60s at the end of the game.
