Nice Weather Ahead! Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion – 4:40pm

Good Tuesday afternoon to you! The last of a few tiny showers are quickly moving southward across central Alabama. Most spots will stay rain free for the rest of the evening, but cooler air will gradually take over this evening, as the cold front moves in. As of 4:30pm, the front was along I-20/59 and moving south at a fast rate. The front will be south of HWY 80 around 6pm. After the stray shower or two moves out this evening, we won’t see another rain event for a while.

Our weather will go dry for the rest of the week. Some of the coolest air so far this season will also take over Alabama, with overnight lows in the low 50s tonight and upper 40s Wednesday night. Skies will become clear this evening and tonight, with a north breeze. The north breeze will continue to funnel in dry and cooler air from the north.

We’ll reach a high near 77 on Wednesday, but low 80s are likely on Thursday. Temperatures will continue a gradual warming trend through Friday and Saturday, with highs in the low to middle. While temperatures will get warm during the afternoon hours, overnight lows will remain cool. 50s are expected at night through the weekend. During the day, low humidity will make mid 80s fell nice on Friday and Saturday. The upper air trough will hang around the east and central US, which will keep our weather quiet and nice.

A secondary cold front will arrive late Saturday. Due to a limited amount of moisture, I don’t expect any issues with rain locally. There could be a few clouds Saturday afternoon or evening, but the risk of rain is very low. This is good news for the Alabama vs Florida Atlantic game on Saturday. Temperatures will range in the lower 80s at the 4pm kickoff, falling into the low 70s to end the game. Skies will remain partly cloudy through the game, with little to no risk of a quick sprinkle. Overall, the gameday forecast is looking good!

LSU takes on Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Look for a mostly clear sky at the 6pm kickoff, with temperatures starting off in the mid 70s, falling into the upper 60s at the end of the game.

Fall begins on Saturday at 9:49am! The weather will feel much like fall through the rest of the weekend, with highs returning into the upper 70s to lower 80s on Sunday and Monday.
