A Nice Fall Season Ahead? Thursday Weather Update – 9:15pm

Good Thursday evening to you! Here’s the latest look at the forecasted trough that’s expected to move through early next week. The model run above is for Tuesday afternoon. The trough is digging southeast at that point, and some of the coolest air so far this season would move into Alabama. According to this model, we would notice much cooler air across west and central Alabama on Wednesday and Thursday.

Model data suggest these troughs will continue to develop and bring bouts of fall like weather to the southeast over the next couple of weeks. The pattern favors rain events every 4 to 5 days, with a nice batch of fall weather after each rain event. This means we may actually have a fall this year. It seems like many years feature hot summer weather, then a  sudden change to winter. Temperatures will fluctuate a bit over the next month of so, with a gradual down-hill trend over time. It sure looks like we’re going into our fall weather a little early. After the early summer heat, I won’t complain.

The general forecast through early October will feature periods of mild temperatures, followed by a rain event, followed by a few days of nice, fall-like conditions. The pattern looks rather progressive, so changes will likely be rather sudden. If you have outdoor events planned, keep it here for the latest forecast.
