Sunday Night Forecast Discussion – 9:20pm Update
September 9, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Sunday night to you! Above is my latest weather webcast for west and central Alabama.
The weather has been nearly perfect today, with a good supply of sunshine and low humidity. A light north breeze has done nothing less than enforce the nice weather. It’s getting rather cool tonight. As of 9pm, many spots are well down in the middle 60s. Look for temperatures to fall another 10 degrees or so by daybreak tomorrow morning. If you’re outdoors within an hour or two of sunrise Monday morning, it will feel rather chilly.
With sunny skies and dry air in place, we’ll quickly rebound into the middle 80s for highs on Monday. A surface high just to our north will keep conditions pretty calm through the next couple of days. Look for mostly sunny skies on Monday through Friday. The trough bringing the cooler temperatures now will stick around the eastern half of the US. Instead of a big warming trend, conditions will stay pretty similar through Friday. Highs will gradually warm into the upper 80s by mid-week, with lows returning into the lower 60s.
An upper level disturbance will develop next weekend and could spell for some rain across our area. It’s a little early to be specific, but if you have outdoor events planned next weekend, you’ll need to keep an eye on the forecast. Highs will remain in the upper 80s through the weekend.
Tropical weather continues rather active. We’ve got Tropical Storm Leslie and Hurricane Michael in the Atlantic. The good news is both of these systems will not impact Alabama’s weather or the eastern US. Another disturbance is trying to get organized west of the central African coast. There’s a chance it could become our next named storm, but most data turns it out to the open waters of the Atlantic. We’ll watch it.
