Stormy Start to Our Weekend… Nice Weather Ahead… Football Friday/Saturday Forecast – Friday Afternoon Update 4:30pm

Good Friday afternoon to you! Today’s weather has been pretty nice, with lots of sunshine and dry weather, but the heat has made a return. The hot day will be one of the last hot days for a while. After a cold front passes through our area Saturday, we’ll notice a nice cool down by Saturday night.

Friday night Football forecast: There will be no issues with rain this evening. There is a chance of an isolated shower through 7pm, but the chance of rain is very low. If you just happened to see a shower at your house, it shouldn’t last more than 10 minutes. Skies will remain mostly sunny through sunset time, then mostly clear for the night. Look for a hot evening for the local high school football games. Temperatures will reach the middle 80s at the 7pm kickoff, then upper 70s at the end of the game. This won’t be a hot chocolate/blanket game for sure; you’ll need water and shorts this evening!

Football Saturday: Look for a good chance of rain and storms in both Starkville and Tuscaloosa before the games. Alabama takes on Western Kentucky in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Kickoff is at 2:39pm. The best chance of rain will occur on Saturday before the game, so any tailgating plans will need to include rain gear. It will not rain all morning on Saturday, but storms are likely at times. I think most of the action will be out of Tuscaloosa in time for kickoff, but a few thunderstorms could still move through the area. Take the poncho to be safe for game-time. By the time the game ends, conditions should turn sharply more comfortable. As the cold front moves through our area, storms will quickly end and cooler air will arrive. Skies will clear out by evening hours and temperatures will fall into the 70s by 7pm.

In Sarkville, conditions will be very similar, but the back edge of the rain will move through a couple hours earlier. Look for a good chance of morning showers and storms, followed by afternoon and evening sunshine. The game should be ok in terms of missing the heavier rain and storms, but a few lingering showers are possible during the 1st half of the game. Look for temperatures in the lower to middle 80s for both the Alabama/Western Kentucky Game and the Auburn/Mississippi State game.

Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s both Saturday night and Sunday night. Skies will remain sunny on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A nice fall-like airmass will continue for the 1st half of next week!
