Active Tropics, But No US Impact Expected… Tropical Update 5:40pm Tuesday

Good Tuesday afternoon! Here’s a quick check of the tropics. We’ve got 2 tropical storms across the central Atlantic, but these systems aren’t expected to have any impact along the US coastline. Tropical Storm Leslie and Tropical Storm Michael are both tracking to the northwest very slowly, but they are expected to turn out to sea over the next 5 to 7 days.

Here’s a look at Tropical Storm Leslie. This storm has battled a little wind shear today, so it remains a tropical storm at this point, but Leslie is expected to become a hurricane by the weekend. The only impacts we’ll notice across the east coast, would be in the form of larger waves by the weekend. We are watching this storm close for our friends in Bermuda. There’s a good chance this thing will be a hurricane very close to the island over the weekend. All forecast data turns the storm to the northeast early next week.
