Storms Moving Through The Area… Radar/Forecast Update – 10pm Monday Update
August 13, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Monday evening! As of 10pm, we’re watching strong storms move through parts of northwest Alabama. Everything is below severe limits at this point. While lightning is intense with storms across northwest Alabama, the bark is worse than the bite. As these storms progress southeast at 30mph, expect intense lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds to continue for parts of the area. Not everyone will get storms tonight, and the risk of severe weather is looking low. Sure, a storm or two could reach severe limits. If a severe storm develops, expect the main threats in the form of hail and damaging winds. Some spots will get a soaking, while other stay dry tonight. Plus, rain will not last all night.
Storms will reach the Tuscaloosa area between now and midnight. Storms will continue to progress southeast and should impact the Birmingham area near and after midnight. As a cold front moves in from the northwest late tonight, the risk of showers and storms will end by daybreak tomorrow morning. Any activity after daybreak should remain south of HWY 80. All of Alabama will go dry shortly after lunch tomorrow.
