Dangerous Heat Today – Thursday! Heat Advisory… Tuesday Morning Update 11am

Good Tuesday morning to you! Here’s the latest on our Heat Advisory across parts of central and south Alabama. Counties shaded in red are under the heat advisory, which includes Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Chilton County and points south. Heat index values will reach 106 in many spots this afternoon. I wouldn’t be shocked if a few spots reach higher values than that. Actual air temperatures are in the lower 90s as of 11am and will reach the upper 90s after 2pm. Temperatures will remain above 90 degrees through 8pm, then fall into the lower 80s by 10pm.
The risk of rain is very low, so many spots will remain rain free. Due to the strong ridge of high pressure over our area and high dewpoints, conditions will remain hot and muggy through Thursday. We can expect a mostly sunny sky through mid-week. The ridge will back down a bit on Friday and Saturday.
If you are working outside today, Wednesday or Thursday, use caution and drink lots of water. Try to limit outdoor work between 1pm and 7pm today through Thursday.
