Some Scattered Storms Possible Through Sunday…Fair Weekend Forecast… – Friday Evening Update 10pm
July 20, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Friday evening to you! After some morning storms moved across the area, things are pretty quiet this evening. The storms that moved through parts of west, central and east Alabama this morning really stabilized the atmosphere for much of the day. Lingering cloud cover also helped to keep things pretty calm this afternoon and evening. Also, a big complex of storms that formed over the coast robbed more energy in the atmosphere across our area. So, what’s next… If you didn’t get rain this morning, you only stand about a 30% chance of getting rain tonight. A few storms will become possible as the front arrives tonight, but the activity should be pretty limited. The risk of severe weather looks very low tonight.
Saturday will include the risk of scattered, mainly afternoon storms. I can’t rule out a morning storm or two due to the nearby surface front. The risk of a storm at your location is at 50%, so keep the rain gear handy. The good news is that storms won’t last long, so outdoor events should go through without major issues. If a storm moves close to your area, go indoors until the storm passes. Lightning will be a big risk with any storms that develop. Skies will remain partly cloudy on Saturday, with a high near 90.
