Severe Weather…Much Needed Rain…Tuesday Update 5:20pm
July 10, 2012 Leave a comment
Good Tuesday afternoon to you! As of 5pm, severe weather issues have shifted to areas north of HWY 82, where numerous severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of central Alabama. There was a reported wind gust of 65mph in the city of Tuscaloosa. Lots of trees are down across west and central Alabama due to this nasty complex of storms. Alabama Power reports over 9,000 people without power in west Alabama, and nearly 5,000 are out of power in Tuscaloosa alone… The storms are starting to weaken a bit as they move northeast.
Look for rain to gradually end from southwest to northeast across the area. Light to moderate rain is still falling over much of southwest Alabama right now, but that will come to an end after sunset. The risk of a few storms will continue tonight, but many spots will go dry after 10pm. Look for another big risk of showers and storms on Wednesday and Thursday.
