Hot Weather Ahead…Watching Tropics Close – Monday Afternoon Forecast 4:19pm Update

Good Monday afternoon to you! It is very hot today, with many spots in the upper 80s to lower 90s under a mostly sunny sky. In-fact, as of 4pm, Tuscaloosa is at 90. Temperatures will gradually trend downward this evening and tonight, with middle 80s at 7pm and upper 70s at the 10pm hour. Skies will remain mostly clear tonight.

The forecast doesn’t change all that much over the next few days, with a slight warming trend. Highs will reach the lower 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a mostly sunny sky each day. The risk of rain is there each afternoon, but many spots will remain rain free. The chance of an isolated afternoon storm is at about 10% on Tuesday through Friday. Summer officially begins on Wednesday, and it will feel like summer. Highs on Wednesday will reach the lower to middle 90s. Expect lows to fall into the upper 60s to lower 70s through the weekend. Other than a few passing clouds, sky conditions will remain mostly sunny on Tuesday through Friday.

Our forecast will bear watching with interest as we approach the weekend. There is some chance a tropical storm could develop in the Gulf of Mexico. Model data is all over the board on the strength and path of the storm, so keep it here with the latest on your forecast. The current thought is that a ridge will push this system into the Texas area, but that could change. Some data develops a weakness in the ridge and allows the system to move towards the central gulf coast. At this point, the weekend forecast is looking hot and mostly dry. Again, this forecast could change drastically as new data comes in. If the ridge is the dominate feature and the tropical low stays to our south, highs could reach the upper 90s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
