West Alabama Weather for Tuesday, Sept. 21

Tuesday Forecast: Another day of extreme heat in West Alabama with afternoon highs back in the mid to upper 90′s. The record high for Tuesday is 99 degrees set back in 1955. We should get close to this record today, after breaking the record high yesterday (100 degrees yesterday in Tuscaloosa…the old record was 97 degrees set back in 1997/1954). The high pressure ridge in control of our weather should slide eastward, helping afternoon temps stay in the middle 90′s with an isolated chance of t-showers Wednesday through Friday.  This weekend computer models have a frontal boundary approaching West Alabama…and some have the front clearing the area. This would give us a slightly better chance for a few showers…and help keep afternoon highs in the upper 80′s to lower 90′s…much closer to normal for this time of year.

West Alabama Weather: Afternoon Update

4:45pm Monday: Record high temperatures today in West Alabama. Our high temperature so far today is 100 degrees at the Tuscaloosa airport. That’s 3 degrees above the old record high of 97 degrees set in 1997/1954. This evening look for temps to fall into the 80′s soon after sunset, and into the 70′s by 10pm. The air is dry in West Alabama, so it will at least feel more comfortable after sunset. Look for the hot weather to continue tomorrow with highs back in the upper 90′s. There are a few extremely isolated showers in West Alabama this afternoon…a few near Fayette and Hamilton…otherwise just dry and hot. More updates and your 7 day forecast tonight at 5, 6 and 10pm.
