Sunday Evening Weather Update – 9:15 PM

Scattered showers and thunderstorms moved across West Alabama this afternoon with the Tuscaloosa airport picking up over 1/2 inch of rain. The mix of sunshine and afternoon storms will return for Monday with highs in the lower 90s by late afternoon. After Monday, high pressure builds in over Alabama…giving us rain chances less than 20% for the remainder of the week. Temperateus will be the big weather story by Wednesday with afternoon highs topping out near 100 and heat index values at 105 or greater. The hot weather will last through the upcoming weekend.

Tonight, mostly fair skies and temps in the mid 70s. Monday’s forecast, look for a mix of sunshine and clouds throughout the day with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing around lunch and ending around 6 or 7 pm. Highs will reach the lower 90s.

Afternoon highs and heat index values will be the big weather story this week with temperatures reaching the 98 – 101 degree range starting Thursday afternoon…with the hot weather continuing into Saturday and Sunday. Skies will be mostly sunny with afternoon rain chances less than 20% each day. Be sure to join me on WVUA-TV for more on your forecast tonight at 10 O’clock.
