Forecast Discussion 5/10 3:53 PM

I’ve had a couple people ask me today, what happened? It was feeling like summer and now it is feeling like late winter or early spring. At last check our temperatures was a chilly 57 degrees. This is 25 degrees below average. In fact, we may have set a record minimal high for the day. The temperatures will remain in the middle 50s over the next few hours and then the readings may go up a degree or two overnight. The cooler weather is being caused by a dry low level flow coupled with overrunning moisture. This has set the stage for a cool down as temperatures have dropped closer to the dew point.

Tomorrow the sky will become partly cloudy and isolated thunderstorms will be possible. A warm front will be moving through overnight and temperatures tomorrow will top out in the middle 80s. Highs will be closer to 90 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, with a partly cloudy sky.

A cold front will approach Alabama on Friday and this will bring a return chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms. The chance for a thunderstorm and shower will also linger on Saturday and Sunday as the front becomes stationary over the state. Be sure to join us first at four, and at five, six, and ten for more details!
