Saturday Afternoon Weather Update – 5:08 PM
May 8, 2010 Leave a comment
I hope you’re having a great Saturday! Perfect weather exists for all of the outdoor activities happening this weekend, including graduation ceremonies and the Tuscaloosa Air Show. Last year, we had problems with low clouds and rain. If you’ve been outside today, there are no clouds to be found. We’ll have more clouds around tomorrow, but this shouldn’t disrupt the air show.
Our forecast will be very changeable over the next few days, as a cooler pattern in place lifts out and hot weather returns. As for the cool weather, you will really notice the difference tonight. Temperatures will approach the upper 40s. With a few more clouds around on Sunday, temperatures will have a hard time reaching 72 degrees. In-fact, north Alabama will stay in the 60s all day. Our eastern US trough will lift out on Monday, and we’ll have a few showers over the northern half of the state, as the warmer airmass moves in. A breezy south wind takes over on Monday and Tuesday, which will bring humidity from the Gulf of Mexico. Not only will the wind bring moisture in our area, oil in the Gulf may spread to the Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coast. Danny will have much more on the damaging oil spill tonight on the news at 10.
It’s going to feel a little like summer by Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will range from 88 to 91 degrees, with lows in the upper 60s. Due to a ridge of high pressure building in, our sky will become mostly sunny for the mid portion of next week. A cold front drifts into north Alabama by the weekend, and we can expect a few storms on Saturday. We’ll fine-tune the weekend forecast as we get closer. Be sure to join me tonight at 10 PM for more on your weather. Have a great Saturday!
