Cold weather is the big story for the rest of the weekend, as we feel the coldest temperatures so far this season. Much of the WVUA-TV coverage area is under a freeze watch for Sunday night. Temperatures are expected to get close to freezing, and as winds go calm, we will deal with some frost. Be sure to cover any tinder vegetation Sunday night. Temperatures will slowly moderate next week, with rain returning late in the week.
Windy conditions and cloudy skies will keep our temperatures from getting close to freezing tonight. It will get cold, with lows in the upper 30s. Clouds will diminish by early tomorrow morning, and mostly sunny weather will be expected for our Sunday. As a surface high pressure moves close by, we’ll see our coldest temperatures Monday morning; that’s when we’ll deal with some frost in spots. Temperatures could make it closer to freezing. Anyone south of Tuscaloosa will make it into the middle 30s. Lower 30s can be expected north of Tuscaloosa. We’ll begin a nice warm-up on Monday and Tuesday, as our highs recover into the upper 60s; Tuesday’s highs will reach the middle 70s. Lots of sun can be expected through Wednesday.
Things begin to change again by the end of the week, with another cold front on the way. I don’t think temperatures will be as cold behind our next front, but we will see some changes. Rain chances go up late Thursday and into Friday. Temperatures both days will be in the 70s. Once the front moves through, we will see a drop in our highs. Due to this being 6 to 7 days out, I’ve left the high near 70 degrees. As more data comes in, we may have to drop that high back just a bit. Be sure to join us tonight at 10 PM for the latest on our weather forecast on WVUA-TV.
Have a great day!
Richard Scott
