A Nice Weekend Ahead!

Weather Discussion Update 3:30 PM

July 17, 2009

We managed to receive a nice supply of sunshine today making for a nice Friday. Other than early morning showers, most of the day has remained rain-free. The latest radar trends are depicting some thunderstorms redeveloping in southern sections of our coverage area. One thunderstorm has developed near Demopolis and more may pop-up as a cold front drops into the area. I do expect gradual clearing overnight, with a pleasant north breeze developing. Lows tonight will drop into the low 60s.

Our weekend forecast looks great, especially for July standards. We will have highs in the middle 80s for tomorrow and Sunday, with lows near 59 degrees. The sky will be sunny each day, with less humid conditions. We will have a northerly breeze throughout the weekend and this will make it feel quite pleasant. I’m expecting the tranquil summer weather to linger into Monday; however, by Tuesday it is going to start feeling more humid. An upper air disturbance will bring more clouds and the chance for a passing thundershower starting on Wednesday. I’m expecting scattered afternoon thundershower possibilities for next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with highs back into the low 90s.

The Dog Days of Summer: We’re entering the dog days of summer and we’re asking viewers to send in pictures of their dogs beating the heat. Last year we had so much fun with this and we want to do it again. We will begin showing pictures during our weather segments on Monday. Please send your pictures to: wxpics@wvuatv.com
