A complex of storms is now impacting northwest Alabama. We’ve been monitoring this activity throughout the evening and because of the forward motion, some storms may hold together and make it into parts of our area. Places like Hamilton, Jasper, and Cullman have the greatest chance of seeing rain from this small scale complex. At this time there are thunderstorm warnings associated with the line. The attached graphic was a product issued by the National Weather Service highlighting the projected motion of the storms.

Sometimes you wish the weather data would be wrong on days like this. By 1:00 p.m. our heat index was 102 degrees and at the time of this posting it was feeling like 105 degrees in Tuscaloosa. Needless to say, the very hot weather will linger into the early evening hours tonight. There are also some isolated thunderstorms out there, with the heaviest rain impacting parts of Marengo County. The isolated storms will be ending tonight, with a mostly fair sky. It is going to feel quite muggy out there with lows in the 70s.
Tomorrow won’t be quite as warm, with highs reaching the lower 90s. We will have a better opportunity for rain and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and some storms may be on the strong side. The chance for a thunderstorm will linger tomorrow night, with lows in the 70s. A front will drop into Alabama on Friday and this front should be pushing through the Tuscaloosa area by 7:00 p.m. I’m expecting a mostly cloudy sky, with a passing thunderstorm or shower likely. Highs on Friday will be reaching the upper 80s, with lows in the upper 60s Friday night.
The air flow will become quite amplified over the weekend and this will help develop a wave of low pressure to our east over the weekend. Cooler and drier air will wrap in behind this low and we will have a cloud and sunshine mix on Saturday and Sunday. A shower may develop early on Saturday, with some afternoon sunshine. It will feel much nicer, with northerly flow over our area. Parts of interior Illinois and Indiana may feel upper 40s as this unseasonably cool/dry air pours into the Eastern United States. We will feel temperatures in the upper 50s early on Monday and Tuesday. The days will be quite pleasant, with lots of sun through Wednesday. Highs will be in the middle 80s.
