The weather today was very similar to what we experienced yesterday. We started off with a mixture of clouds and sun, with scattered downpours over the area. Temperatures today have felt quite pleasant thanks to the earlier rain showers cooling us off. The rain has been much heavier over eastern sections of Alabama today. The National Weather Service projected some downpours were producing over two inch amounts per hour over some communities along and east of I-65. The scattered downpours will continue through the evening hours, with gradual clearing as the night goes on. Lows tonight will be in the upper 60s.
It looks like we will have one more day with a similar weather setup. We will have a mixture of clouds and sunshine tomorrow, with afternoon highs reaching the lower 80s. The higher temperatures will happen in the areas that don’t receive much rain. Once again showers will linger into the evening hours and a stray thunderstorm can’t be ruled out. By Thursday the chance for a passing thunderstorm will increase as a cold front enters the state. The showers and storms will still remain poorly organized through Thursday afternoon.
The cold front is expected to sink into southern sections of our area by Friday morning and this will bring a noticeable drop-off in the humidity. This frontal passage will allow for a dry Friday afternoon and evening, although a shower or storm will be possible Friday morning. I’m not completely confident the front will clear the area, but at this time all data points at a dry weekend, with ample sunshine on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the lower 80s over the weekend, with lows in the 60s. On Monday and Tuesday the dewpoints will begin to rise, with isolated thunderstorms becoming a possibility during the afternoon hours. Have a great evening!
