I received an email tonight from a viewer in Northport, wanting to know more about our rainfall situation. I know we’ve been throwing around a lot of rainfall data over the past few days and I wanted to bring you a summary of the statistics so far.
Our official data for Tuscaloosa/Northport, as measured at the Tuscaloosa Airport, for the entire event stands at 2.60.” This may change tomorrow as more rain will be possible. The current total makes our deficit for the year, 7.48.” We’ve received a weather watcher report of 4.80” from Taylorville, 3.84” in Eoline, and 4.30” in Centreville. Other observations include 3.92” in Clanton, 3.15” in Livingston, and 3.86” in Northport. If these totals were recorded as official, they would certainly cut our year’s deficit in half. As for official statistics, we have to go with the official recordings at the Airport. Unfortunately, I feel like the official tally is a poor representation of Fay’s true impact on our area.
Be sure to join us at 10:00 for more on Gustav!
