It’s a warm day across the area with temperatures in the lower 90s. There are also a few clouds out there as well. In Marengo and Sumter Counties, a few showers and thunderstorms have developed in the heat of the afternoon. I can’t rule out more of those through the rest of the daylight hours, and into the early evening.
Tomorrow, rain and storm chances bump up to about 40% and stay there through Thursday. We’ll see increasing clouds from a system to the west of us. The storms that develop tomorrow and Thursday are not from Fay, But as we go into Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that looks to change.
If you’ve been keeping track of this particular storm, you know how much the forecast has changed over the past several days.
The National Hurricane Center’s track for Tropical Storm Fay continues it to the northeast for the next 36 hours, then it makes a left turn to the west… coming in to southern Alabama Saturday.
This could mean elevated chances for heavy rains, especially in our southern counties through the weekend.
Now depending on what Fay and it’s remnants do, the forecast for Friday through Monday could change drastically.
Right now, I’m forecasting 30% change of showers and storms for all four of those days, with mostly cloudy skies and temperature at, or just below, 90 degrees.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on the storm, and have the latest on WVUA News First at 4:00 this afternoon and tonight at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00.
I’ll also have an update specifically on Fay later this evening on the blog.
