This morning Hurricane Dolly is strengthening as the system approaches landfall. Winds with the system are now up to 85 mph. At the time of this posting the center of Dolly was roughly 50 miles east of Brownsville, TX. Tropical Storm force winds were already being felt in the outer bands extending north of the system. These bands are already shifting into cities like Corpus Christi. As Dolly moves onshore, the system will slow in speed dumping heavy amounts of rain. The included graphic displays the projected rainfall amounts for South Texas.
Here at home, I’m expecting another good coverage of scattered thunderstorms. Some of the storms today may grow severe and we will keep an eye on the radar for you and notify you if any advisories are issued. The storms are getting started early today. Right now there is a small cell drifting through Winston and extreme northern Walker Counties.
