Saturday Afternoon Weather Discussion

I hope you are having a great Memorial Day Weekend! The weather turned out to be very warm across the area today, with temperatures reaching into the lower 90s. There is a summer-like ridge of high pressure building in, which will really heat us up tomorrow as well. Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s; I believe our coverage of showers will be much lower tomorrow, as there is only a 20% chance for a stray shower. With lots of sun around, things will quickly heat up; overall, it will be a nice day to be out on the river or lake! As for your Memorial Day, the weather will continue hot but mostly sunny; there is a slight chance for an afternoon shower, but most places will stay dry.
The ridge will continue hang around until Tuesday, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. There is a 20% chance for a shower or storm each day, but our coverage will be limited. The high pressure system will weaken enough to allow for a cool front to move in here Tuesday night and Wednesday morning; this will help to spark off a few more storms; even then, there is only a 30% chance for rain on Wednesday. I’ve cut back on the rain chances for Thursday, since some drier air looks to move in from the north. Places south of Tuscaloosa could see a few showers but that’s about it. The good news is that there is some nice and mostly sunny weather in my forecast on through next weekend; highs will remain in the upper 80s.
Be sure to tune into our live newscast on WVUA tonight at 10 p.m. for the latest on your weather, plus, we will have a story on the severe weather in Oklahoma today that you don’t want to miss! Take care and have a great day!
