It turned out to be a very busy afternoon for us! First off, I want to thank Richard for doing a great job updating the Weather Blog. I also want to thank our wonderful viewers for the emails and useful reports. Tuscaloosa and points west have been dropped from the tornado watch and I feel we will see even more counties trimmed away soon. The active weather is pushing east and we will have a mild and muggy night. A severe thunderstorm was over Bibb County and that warning expired. As the wet weather ends, you can expect mild conditions with areas of fog.
The front associated with this system has stalled and this boundary will be lifting northward. A big time warm-up is on the way for tomorrow and our high will be right at 90-degrees. Some spots may even cross the 90-degree threshold. With hot temperatures in place, and a stalled boundary nearby, I can’t rule out a stray thunderstorm for tomorrow and Saturday.
Another disturbance will bring the front southward again on Sunday and this feature will bring us another good chance of thunderstorms, mainly late in the day. Some of the data is saying the focus for heavier storm will be more likely over north Alabama. After the front passes we will have a temporary break in the wet weather for Monday and Tuesday. You can clearly tell summer is almost here as the primary storm track is becoming more focused northward. The front will lift northward again as moisture builds from the Gulf next week. This will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms over our area by Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
